About Me
I understand that life isn't always what you expected it to be.
It can leave you feeling overwhelmed, out of control and emotionally depleted. You sometimes long for the person you used to be. What you thought you wanted for your future is not living up to your expectations. It's exhausting and extremely lonely. I help individuals, new moms and couples who long to feel more fulfilled with their lives or more connected in their relationships, but feel suffocated by stress or shame. I support them in working through their feelings of ‘stuckness’ and distress, so that they can better take care of themselves and discover a life that makes them happy and more confident. |
Why Work With Me?
I decided to pursue a career in social work because I have always had a interest in listening to people's stories. It is always a privilege to learn about people's history, what keeps them moving forward in times of difficulty and their hopes and dreams for the future. This passion sent me on the academic path of acquiring my masters of social work from Yeshiva University in New York City in 2007. From there I returned home to Toronto, Ontario to pursue advanced training in cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), narrative therapy and emotionally focused therapy (EFT). I was incredibly privileged to have had the opportunity to work with individuals and families struggling through the complexities of eating disorders at both the Hospital for Sick Children and Toronto General Hospital. After some time, I began working in private practice and founded Midtown Toronto Therapy.
I know what it's like to feel stressed and overwhelmed. Life can be hard and it can throw you curve balls. I also know from being a new mom that being a parent is hard and not always what you expected. From my 10+ years of experience as a social worker I truly believe that no matter what your story, everyone is deserving of a life that brings them happiness. I’d like to help you to discover what that would look like for you so that you can recharge your energy and move forward with hope for the future.
I always try to understand how my clients are feeling and to show them compassion. It is so important that I try to convey to them that you are not alone and that what you are saying is important and meaningful.
My clients let me know that they appreciate how patient I am with their struggles. I know how hard it can be to talk about your pain and distress. I like to slow things down and work on things one step at a time in small manageable steps.
My work is my passion! I commit myself to my clients by going above and beyond in being witness to their stories. Every day I wake up looking forward to meeting new people, following them on their journey and being inspired.
