Deborah McEwan MSW, RSW

I strive to provide a relaxed, collaborative space to gently explore the challenges of life at a pace that’s comfortable for you.

Welcome

Hello, I’m Deborah, a registered social worker and mental health therapist. I understand there are times when life can feel overwhelming. Clients who come to see me are often struggling with multiple responsibilities while also trying to manage their emotions and have meaningful relationships. The pressure to have every aspect of one’s life on track can be exhausting.

I believe everyone is doing the best they can in the moment. Feeling depleted, irritable or directionless are warning signs to take care. Perhaps your usual ways of handling stress aren’t working now or you’re ready for a fresh perspective. I strive to provide a relaxed, collaborative space to gently explore the challenges of life at a pace that’s comfortable for you. My intent is for you to feel heard and understood, and to provide skills you can use to feel more grounded and stable.

“My intent is for you to feel heard and understood and to provide skills you can use to feel more grounded and stable.”

My Approach

My therapeutic approach is holistic with your goals as the priority. I use evidence-based psychological treatments such as cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), solution-focused therapy, trauma-informed practice, and mindfulness based stress reduction (MBSR). I’m genuinely interested in understanding what’s important to your mental health and supporting you towards wellness.

I’ve been working in a therapeutic role with clients for over 15 years, and have come to appreciate how each person is unique and can benefit from individualized care. I hope to help you process emotions, develop self-compassion, and create healthy coping strategies.

I have a special interest and training in providing therapeutic counselling for clients with challenges during pregnancy, birthing or in early parenting, including parents who are fostering and adopting.
